Our onboard computer and survey-grade RTK-GPS combine centimeter accurate real-time GPS positioning with precise water temperature measurements obtained from a calibrated system. Accurate GPS positions and water temperatures are obtained simultaneously every second while transversing an aquatic environment.

Utilizing advanced contour mapping softwares, the data are developed into precise thermographic "contours" and plotted onto large format, color project maps.

 

This service provides a compelling detailed mapping and accurate quantification of "critical elements" of fish habitat (e.g., thermal refugia), derived from tens of thousands of in situ empirical data.

AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS' water temperature maps are compatible with numerous computer formats to include ArcView, AutoCAD, and others and can be overlaid onto aerial photographs or GIS data for a greater understanding of the overall aquatic system.
