Hydrographic Surveying

Specializing in precision GPS environmental mapping, AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS utilizes advanced hydrographic equipment and software to provide bathymetric surveying and subbottom profiling within streams, lakes, harbors, estuaries, and marine environments.

AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS' trained staff utilizes HYPACK’s hydrographic software and an onboard computer to interface the survey-grade RTK-GPS with the calibrated single-beam or multi-beam echo sounder.

Accurate water depth measurements are collected and correlated to respective centimeter accurate, real-time GPS positions. These depth-position data sets are continuously recorded while navigating the survey vessel along an established GPS gridline course.

HYPACK and AutoCAD Civil 3-D softwares are used to develop the data sets into accurate water depth and sub-bottom contours.

AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS provides hydrographic services for streams, lakes, harbors, estuaries, and marine environments. Our delivered products are provided in all recognized electronic formats to include shp (ArcGIS), dwg (AutoCAD), pdf, jpg, and more.

In certain projects such as dredging applications where sediment thickness needs to be determined, a dual-frequency echo sounder is used to collect sub-bottom (sediment) depths at the same time water depths are collected.

Site specific sediment depths and sediment volumes are surveyed and depicted on full format AutoCAD or PDF drawings. These drawings, along with our cross-sectional drawings, are critical and often necessary for many sediment related projects.

AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS produces full format survey drawings that include cross-sectional and 3D views are provided, along with staged-water and sediment volume computations.

Hydrographic surveys and sub-bottom profiling are a valuable tool in resource management of riverine environments, providing as an accurate means of establishing a baseline conditions, monitoring seasonal sediment transport, quantifying fish habitat at various flows, or as an empirical calibration of an ongoing hydrology model.

AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS provides professional hydrographic surveying services for streams, lakes, harbors, estuaries, and marine environments.
