Affiliated Researchers conducts 800 Acre wetland delineation for Selfridge Air National Guard

Selfridge Air National Guard contracted AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS to conduct a baseline wetland delineation on approximately 800 acres. This contract required AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS to delineate regulated wetland environments in accordance with criteria and methods pursuant Federal statute (Section 404 of the Clean Water Act) and Michigan statute (Part 303 of Michigan Public Act 451).
AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS' certified Professional Wetland Scientist and Technician Specialists delineated the regulated wetland environments (to include coastal environments) at 18 separate "Areas of Concern". Wetland delineation boundaries were flagged by AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS' Wetland Scientist and accurately located utilizing a sub-meter accurate GPS by AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS' Technician Specialist. This wetland delineation was subsequently verified by the MDEQ and USACE.
As part of the project requirements, AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS also provided investigations, analysis, and written discussion regarding environmental conditions of specific wetland functions and values respective to each area of concern.
AFFILIATED RESEARCHERS also investigated and evaluated invasive species, as well as potential sites for wetland mitigation.
This Project:
- conducted technical baseline investigation relating to the preservation of wetland and coastal environments;
- conducted scientific evaluations and documentation of environmental conditions, invasive species, and wildlife habitat protection;
- evaluated and documented ecosystem functions and values relating to water quality, floodwaters, forests, erosion and sedimentation, connecting channels, rare wildlife, nutrients and organic material, unique coastline habitats, and nearshore health;
- utilized the best available science and technologies to communicate comprehensive information to decision-makers.
